Dan Labkovsky - Full-stack developer

Hi, I'm Dan Labkovsky.

Self-taught full-stack developer. At 35 years old, I have spent 20 years learning technology by building. Based in Berlin, happy to relocate.

I've had a computer in front of me since I was about five. By fourteen, I landed my first summer job at a computer hardware store. At fifteen, after a brief stint with Photoshop and design, I started my coding journey-beginning with HTML and CSS, then building backends with PHP, MySQL, and shared Linux hosting.

For a long stretch I was a one-man crew, building and running sites for clients and taking on various freelance projects in Israel: Masa Aher, buses.co.il, a few e-commerce shops, WordPress builds, and a larger app on CodeIgniter. Frontend, backend, database, DevOps-I had a chance to play with all of it. Since then I've kept widening the net: Angular, React Native apps, a Windows app in Electron, serverless and headless setups, and the TypeScript stack I work in now.

I am a curious, hands-on learner who adapts quickly to unfamiliar stacks and enjoys working through problems to find clean, practical solutions.

My most recent role at Pariton.AI is the clearest read on how I work. There I expanded heavily into Google Cloud (GCP), DevOps, observability, and Kubernetes (K8s). They sent me off with a top reference:

"Particularly noteworthy are his sharp grasp and his ability to get up to speed on even complex technical problems in no time and develop robust, clean solutions."

What I like building

  • Beautiful, fast, responsive web apps - interfaces that feel instant and get out of the way.
  • Software where the AI does real work-actual pipelines, not just wrappers.
  • Tools that take the boring, repetitive parts of a job off your plate.
  • Personal projects with range, from a home Linux server to small apps that fix some daily annoyance, and a gallery for my dad's hippo collection.

Away from the keyboard I enjoy technology, science, space, chess, hiking, travel, the NBA, and personal software and hardware projects.

Currently based in Berlin and happy to relocate.

Experience

Full-Stack Developer - Pariton.AI GmbH, Berlin

Oct 2025 – Jun 2026 · Full-time · First engineering hire · Head Engineer within three months

I joined as the first engineering hire and assumed the Head Engineer role within three months. Together with one other developer, I owned the full stack: Angular on the frontend, NestJS and PostgreSQL behind it, plus async processing and integrations. The work was test-driven, shipped through CI/CD, and ran on Google Kubernetes Engine with ArgoCD.

Patent-discovery pipeline. I built an n8n workflow that finds newly published patents, evaluates them using TRIZ, performs freedom-to-operate analysis, creates work packages, and generates PDF reports for Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM) projects, along with engineering reports. Work that previously took analysts days now runs automatically.

  • E-commerce analytics - sales from several platforms pulled into one dashboard with clear breakdowns.
  • Internal tools - smaller full-stack web apps, admin screens, and a Windows desktop app in Electron.
  • Observability - Grafana, SigNoz and Langfuse on our cluster to watch metrics, traces and LLM calls.

Stack: TypeScript · Angular · NestJS · Node.js · PostgreSQL · Kubernetes · Helm · ArgoCD · GitHub Actions · Docker · Grafana · SigNoz · Prometheus · OpenTelemetry · Langfuse · Playwright · n8n · GCP · Stytch

DevOps / Platform Engineer - Independent Contracts

2023 – 2025 · Remote

Independent contract work supporting managed Kubernetes platforms and production infrastructure for SaaS teams. I operated and scaled production workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine - Helm charts, ingress, autoscaling, secrets, zero-downtime rolling deployments - and automated CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code with Docker, GitHub Actions, and GitOps across multiple client environments.

Full-Stack & Mobile Developer - DanLabs.net

2020 · Remote · Freelance contract

Freelance contract work under my DanLabs banner. I built and shipped cross-platform React Native apps with Expo from prototype to app-store release, and developed the Node.js REST APIs, authentication, and background services behind them.

Where it started: IT and hardware in Israel

2006 – 2017 · Israel

Freelance web development from my teens, building custom client websites with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, WordPress, osCommerce, and CodeIgniter; leading a hospital-wide switch from paper workflows to a centralized electronic system at Ha'Emek Hospital with John Bryce; studying Software Engineering at Ben-Gurion University; and managing the Ivory computer store in Nazareth.

What I build on the side

Ongoing

What I tinker with when nobody's paying me to:

  • DanLabs.net - this site. Plain JavaScript and a hand-written canvas particle engine, no frameworks.
  • A GameMaker game - a small, finished title built in GameMaker Studio 2.
  • React Native & p5.js - mobile apps and little creative-coding experiments.
  • lad-art.com - my mom's painting gallery, rebuilt more times than I can count.
  • A home Linux server - my old PC, now self-hosting odds and ends, including a stock-screener app I built; I reach it over Tailscale and keep taking it apart.
